See God’s Love

How much do you love me? This is a common that question parents ask young children.

The respondent often answers “this much” as they spread both arms as wide as possible. I was recently reminded of a short verse in the Bible in which God’s love is also described with distance, and the picture is mind blowing when you stop and think about it.

I often find myself reminding clients of how much God loves them. This is because I believe that many struggles my clients face are intensified because they do not know how much God loves them. In fact, some of us doubt God’s love and grace entirely at times. Our view of Him is so often tainted by our mood, by how others have treated us, or by our own failures. But those views are false and such a hindrance to us experiencing the comfort God freely gives.

That is why I love the short but staggering reminder in Psalm 36:5 of just how big God’s loves is. Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Wow, how kind of God to inspire the Psalmist to these visual descriptions that demonstrate God’s never-ending care for us.
