Sadly, rates of suicide and self-harm are on the rise.\u00a0 At Maranatha Family Counseling we are committed to approaching these struggles with great care.<\/p>\n

Our first goal for a client struggling with cutting, suicidal thoughts, or another type of self-harm is to assess the levels of risk, and to create a Safety Plan and Contract.\u00a0 The results of the assessments will determine how we proceed with treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Clients who feel unsafe need a collaborative treatment approach with multiple people and professionals.\u00a0 Consequently, we may involve their family members, and may recommend a metal health hospital or more intensive treatment.\u00a0 If the client is under 18-years-old, we will always involve a parent or guardian in their safety planning process.<\/p>\n
After we get our clients emotionally stable, we proceed with exploring and challenging underlying emotions that lead to self-harm urges.<\/p>\n
